2. What was your first reaction to your diagnosis?
I honestly don’t remember my actual diagnosis. I was admitted to the hospital with severe ketoacidosis and have very vague memories of most of my hospital stay. I’ve been told that I was pretty compliant when they told me, but since I had been attached to IVs for a few days with no solid food the first thing I asked for were some cheerios “because they have no sugar!” [silly naive 11 year old me]
